FAQs

Where are meetings held?

We hold most meetings in our office. However, our team are able to meet you in your home, if you feel more at ease there. We can also hold meetings virtually via videoconferencing (teams/zoom).

Do you have parking?

There is no client parking at our Penzance or Truro offices but there are council car parks a short walk away.

Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?

No, all initial meetings are held at our expense. We don’t believe it would be right to charge you for our time while we are still establishing whether we can help you or not.

What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?

Your adviser should be in touch before your meeting to let you know what to bring. It is always a good idea to bring ID and a proof of address.

How long should I allow for an initial meeting?

Initial meetings tend to last between 30 minutes and an hour.

Do I have to sign up to your services at an initial meeting?

No, the initial meeting is to discuss your needs and to see if we can help.

Are you independent?

No, we are restricted which means we use a panel of carefully selected providers. Whilst the restricted panel is designed to cover a vast range of needs, there are some occasions when a suitable solution cannot be met through the panel. In this instance we do have the option to conduct additional research and go “off panel” to whole of market.

Are you regulated?

Harris Begley Financial Planning is a trading name of Harris Begley Lifetime Partners Ltd who is an Appointed Representative of Quilter Financial Services Ltd which are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. You can see details of our FCA registration here.

Can you advise on final salary/defined benefit transfers?

Yes, we can, we are also a member of the Pension Transfer Gold Standard.

Transferring out of a Final Salary/Defined Benefit scheme is unlikely to be in the best interests of most people.

What happens if my Financial Planner is away on holiday?

What do you charge for a financial plan?

It depends on your situation and what you are looking to do.

Do you take a percentage or are your fees fixed?

It depends on what service you require from us. Our advisers will fully explain all of our fees during your first meeting with us.

Do you charge VAT?

No.
